Escenario Natural

Very early in the morning we will head northeast of Cusco, to the community of San Pedro de Cachora, where we will arrive after 2.5 hours of driving.

With the majestic Padrayoc mountain (5,570 meters above sea level) as our backdrop, we will meet with our team. This team consists of all the people who will make this a safe and comfortable adventure, given the altitude and our route.

We will start our trek after a thorough inspection of the camping equipment and the beasts of burden (mules and horses) that will carry it. Throughout our expedition, we will marvel at the great variety of wildlife that the Andean ecosystems have to offer. We will also get to meet the inhabitants of small villages such as La Colmena and La Aguada.

On this first day, we will reach the lookout on the Capuliyoc route, from where we will appreciate the entirety of the Apurimac valley. We will have lunch surrounded by this impressive landscape before resuming our trek and reaching the settlements of Huayhuacalle, Tinajayoc, Cocamasana, and Torwisqana. Always surrounded by picturesque landscapes, we will finally arrive in Chiquisca, where we will spend the night.

Once again, we will rise very early, resuming our trek after having breakfast. On the second day, we will reach our big goal: Choquequirao.

We will climb to the shore of the Apurímac river, called Rosalina Beach, where we will take a brief break and stock up on fresh and crystalline water that comes from the snow-capped mountains of the region. After resuming our trek, the Apurímac canyon will open in front of us, and we will get to witness its depth, its shape and the river basin. We will then start the ascent to Marampata, from where we will have an outstanding view of the Choquequirao archeological complex.

After lunch, we will watch the flight of the condors, which appear in the sky around 3:00 pm. These majestic birds fly above Choquequirao on their way to higher zones.

After watching sunrise at Choquequirao, we will enter the archeological complex. We will explore every inch of it, marveling at the intelligence and architectural prowess of the golden era of the Inca Empire. Ecstatic after being witness to so much beauty, and feeling nostalgic, we will start our descent with the magical presence of the condors flying above our heads.

With a panoramic view of the Apurímac Canyon, we will reach the San Ignacio beach, always surrounded by indigenous flora and fauna. Following our lunch at San Ignacio, we will head to El Carmen. The heavenly geography of this place will be home to our campsite for the night.

After breakfast, we will begin our trek to the Tambobamba estate, a historic site that is an echo of colonial times and  farmers. This region is now very rich due to the agricultural and cattle farming activities. Our trek will continue with a visit to the Pacobamba community, after which we will enter Huanipaca. Here, we will appreciate the Sacsarayoc glacier range in all its splendor.

After soaking in this breathtaking view of the Vilcanota region, we will board our transport and return to Cusco. ( 5 hours driving)

Giardino was recommended by a friend, and even though I had booked some hotels on my own, they managed to work around it, and provide us a wonderful experience from Paracas, Nazca, Ica, Huacachina to Puno. The guide Luis Angel was very knowledgeable, answered every question, and went over and beyond his duties to make the tour an unforgettable time in Perú.

We had a fun and educational private Colca Valley tour and road trips with Ramiro (guide) and Herbert (driver) from Giardino Tours. They picked us up from the Arequipa airport, took us to our accommodations at Colca Lodge, took us on a beautiful hike to the isolated Chimpa Fortress... We are glad the agency we engaged to plan our Peru adventure chose Giardino Tours for this part of the trip!

We traveled in Peru with having all of our trip booked through the Giardino travel agency. Karla helped us with the planning and booked the trip, the individual tours and our flights. The price for the tour overall was very reasonable... The guides were fantastic and were the best part about doing these tours. They were knowledgeable and had some of the best recommendations for us to do

We went on a two-day tour with Luis and Julio and it was amazing! Luis speaks very good English and knows a lot about the history and culture of is own country. At every question, he could easily give you a good answer and explainating. Julio was a very good driver. We felt very safe and he stopt at the best spots for pictures.
