On our trek of the Lares trail, we will get to know the lifestyle of the Andean communities. We will be captivated by the happiness and the essence of how simple but wonderful life can be in these villages. Our journey will be full of beautiful landscapes, and we will be surrounded by mountains, lakes and rivers, with the sun over us. We will also find many llamas and alpacas along the way.
Lares is the perfect route for those who want to connect with their essence, their humanity, and with Mother Earth. A renovating trek, full of beautiful panoramic views, hot springs, lakes, rivers, mountains and exotic flora and fauna.

This Inca trail leads to Ollantaytambo town, from this point we will take the train to the city of Machu Picchu.

  • DAY 1: CUSCO – QUISHUARANI – CUNCANI  (L) (D).
  • DAY 2: CUNCANI – HUACAWASI – LAKE IPSAYCOCHA (B) (L) (D).
  • DAY 3: EPSAYCOCHA – PATACANCHA – WYLLOQ – PUMAMARKA – OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES (B) (L) (D).
  • DAY 4:    MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO (B)
  • Transportation: Cusco – Lares.
  • Train: Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes –  Cusco.
  • Bus: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes.
  • Hotel: Double occupancy rooms in Aguas Calientes (last night).
  • Professional tourist guide: English/Spanish (depending on client requirements).
  • Assistant tourist guide: For groups of 12+ people.
  • Chef: In charge of preparing food.
  • Carriers: In charge of handling the horses.
  • Horses: They carry the tents, food, cooking equipment, backpacks, sleeping bags and sleeping mats (8 Kg / 17 lb per person).
  • One or two extra horses in case of emergency. Depends on the size of the group.
  • Meals and snacks.
  • Equipment: Double tents, inflatable sleeping mats, dining tent, bathroom tent, kitchen tent, chairs, tables, and first aid kit (including emergency oxygen tank).

    Giardino was recommended by a friend, and even though I had booked some hotels on my own, they managed to work around it, and provide us a wonderful experience from Paracas, Nazca, Ica, Huacachina to Puno.     We had a fun and educational private Colca Valley tour and road trips with Ramiro (guide) and Herbert (driver) from Giardino Tours. They picked us up from the Arequipa airport, took us to our accommodations at Colca Lodge, took us on a beautiful hike to the isolated Chimpa Fortress... We are glad the agency we engaged to plan our Peru adventure chose Giardino Tours for this part of the trip!

    We went on a two-day tour with Luis and Julio and it was amazing! Luis speaks very good English and knows a lot about the history and culture of is own country. At every question, he could easily give you a good answer and explainating. Julio was a very good driver. We felt very safe and he stopt at the best spots for pictures. This was one of the best trips during our stay in Peru. We highly recommend this tour guide!
