Does the Amazon go through Peru?
The Peruvian Amazon comprises an area of 782,880.55 km² east of the Andes Mountain Range. It is one of the areas with the greatest biodiversity and endemism on the planet, covering two natural regions: high forest and low jungle, occupying more than 60% of the Peruvian territory. The area is a huge geological depression in which the great plains, mountains, small mountain areas, flood territories predominate. This area have as a result a great degree of biodiversity and beautiful landscapes.

To take a program to the Peruvian jungle you have two main entry points: the Amazon-South zone with the city of Puerto Maldonado, and the Amazon Nort zone with the city of Iquitos. Why is the Peruvian Amazon important?
The Amazon rainforest plays an important part in regulating the world’s oxygen and carbon cycles. It produces roughly 6 percent of the world’s oxygen and has long been thought to act as a carbon sink, meaning it readily absorbs large amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

What is the best time to go to the peruvian rainforest?
The best time to visit the jungle in Peru is during the dry season (June – November), when water levels are low and trails are dry and better for explorers. But, keep in mind that during the rainy season (December – May), the weather is mild, and there is a better chance of spotting animals. Overall, both the dry and rainy seasons are great times of the year to visit the peruvian forest.

    We had a fun and educational private Colca Valley tour and road trips with Ramiro (guide) and Herbert (driver) from Giardino Tours. They picked us up from the Arequipa airport, took us to our accommodations at Colca Lodge, took us on a beautiful hike to the isolated Chimpa Fortress...     We went on a two-day tour with Luis and Julio and it was amazing! Luis speaks very good English and knows a lot about the history and culture of is own country. At every question, he could easily give you a good answer and explainating. Julio was a very good driver. We felt very safe and he stopt at the best spots for pictures. This was one of the best trips during our stay in Peru. We highly recommend this tour guide!
